Guide to using the mobile app

A copy of this guide is available in the app, by tapping the “Me” icon and then “Help”.

The app has four tabs:

1. Daily Report
2. Tutor Feedback
3. Inspirations
4. Me

Let’s go over each one.

Daily Report

Every day you can use this app and our website to keep track of what you eat, your movement or activities, and how you’re feeling. You can change to a different day by using the green Left/Right arrows at the top of the screen.

Your phone needs an Internet connection to load and save your information. The daily report will auto-save soon after you finish typing in each box. You’ll know it’s saving to our server when you see it say “Sync”, and you’ll know it’s done saving when it says “Saved!”

Besides the auto-save, you can always tap on the green Save button in the upper-right corner to save your progress at any time. Similarly, you can click the “Save Progress” button at the bottom of the Food and Movement sections. This will save what you typed in the app and sync your changes with our website. It’s best to do this if you want to make sure it is saved.

The daily report has three sections: Food, Movement and Thoughts. Here’s an explanation of the three sections:

Daily Report: Food

At the end of the day, give yourself a rating (1 to 5 stars) on how you feel about how well you ate. You can also track how many cups of water you’ve consumed.

Next are the six meal slots. You can use these for big meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) or snacks. If you eat more than six times a day, feel free to combine meals and snacks into one slot. For example, you could put breakfast in Meal One, lunch in Meal Two, dinner in Meal Three, and all snacks into Meal Four.

After you tap into a meal slot, you’ll see a place to enter the time you ate the meal and write a description of the meal. If this is a new meal, the time box will auto-fill with your phone’s current time. You may attach photos of your meal, if you wish. This can help your tutor see portion size and detail. We recommend always filling in a short description of your meal, even if you’ve attached a photo.

If this is a meal you eat frequently, you can save it as a “Favorite Meal” by tapping the “Add To Favorite Meals” button. Give the meal a short name and save it. From that point forward, whenever you go to enter a meal you can tap over to “Favorites” at the top and select your favorite meal. This will type in the meal into the description box for you, which can be a big time-saver. Note: images of the meal are not saved when you create a favorite, and your tutor does not see the name of the favorite meal — only the description.

Daily Report: Movement

At the end of the day, give yourself a rating (1 to 5 stars) on how you feel about your day of movement/activity/exercise. If it’s a rest day, you can rate how well you rested too!

You’ll also use this tab to let your tutor know how you moved/rested today, and how you plan to move/rest tomorrow.

Daily Report: Thoughts

In this tab we focus more on the mental side of health and fitness. It’ll ask how you slept, challenges you’ve overcome, tasks you want to accomplish the next day and take a moment for gratitude. You can also ask your tutor any questions or comments you have here. If you’ve set up any custom goals to track on the website, they will show up here too.

When you’re finished with your report, scroll down to the bottom of the Thoughts tab and click the “Submit Report” button. This will finalize your report, send it to your tutor and notify them.

Tutor Feedback

After your report is submitted, you can view it here. When your tutor has responded to it, you’ll also see their feedback here. Similar to the Daily Report tab, you have green Left/Right arrows to switch the day you’re viewing.

There is also an option to show or hide your meal images. If you have uploaded many images, you may want to hide them from your view to make scrolling down the report a little faster. You can always bring them back by tapping the show button.

Inspirations

Our Chief Tutor, Adam, and head coach, Haley, regularly write and post new articles and videos for you to see. These are meant to help educate and inspire. You’ll see a list of them here and can tap into each one to read the full article/video.

These contain helpful guidance on the mindset, psychology and habits of the MyBodyTutor approach. Our most successful clients have reported that these were important to their success, so we recommend checking them out when you have the time.

Me

The “Me” tab has several helpful sections.

You can change your individual settings or add your weigh-in or progress photo for the day. Your photos are kept private and available for you to see when you login to the website.

If you’d like to set up a daily reminder to submit your daily report, you can do that here too. Check out the “Settings & Notifications” page for this.

We also have links to our recipes, the ability to refer your friends/family to MyBodyTutor, and an option to request a new coach, if needed.
